What is Breathwork?

Breathwork is a dynamic and progressively deepening process which allows you to become more conscious about and let go of energetic and cognitive patterns that may be effecting the flow of health and wellbeing for you in life.

When we suffer traumatic experiences through life and even through the birth process, our breath pattern will be effected detrimentally. We literally hold trauma in the rhythm and pattern of our breathing. We tend to live how we breathe and over time, a restricted breathing pattern can show up in our lives as we find ourselves in situations that feel restrictive and lead us to stuckness.

These less than optimum breathing patterns begin to effect our internal structure and can result in pain, discomfort, depression, destructive behaviour to name but a few. Breathwork sessions allow our bodies to reopen areas that may have been restricted, supporting the body back to healthier patterns of breathing and being. Bringing breath to the body allows movement and movement brings change.

 

Ivan offers structured Breathwork sessions for clients who would like to discover the powerful therapeutic potential of conscious connected breathing. Ivan is a Breathwork Practitioner in training at the moment and offer blocks of 10 sessions under the supervision of my tutor at First-Breath.

A typical session (3 hours) involves a space to talk about aspects of your life (For around 1 to 1.5 hours) followed by 1 to 1.5 hours of conscious breathing, usually lay down, sometimes in a seated position. There is space for you to integrate your experience at the end of your breathe before we end the session. Ivan provides a written summary of each breathe he facilitates with you through.

Breathwork sessions are ideally attended every 2 weeks. This allows time for the wave of one breathe to move through the body, by which time your body is ready to repeat the breathing process. Unconscious content begins to rise to the surface through the sessions and this gives you the opportunity to get to some root causes. 

Breathwork offers a wide range of benefits and can be used for blissful experiences or can be used to access deep seated and long standing trauma from the tissues and cells in the body. The type of Breathwork practice Ivan is trained in has roots in rebirthing with elements of trauma release techniques and acupressure to help you release what your body is ready to let go of.
